(VOVworld) - Defying President Barack Obama's veto threat, the US House of Representatives on Thursday passed two bills to sabotage the historic nuclear agreement between Iran and P5+1(the UN Security Council's five permanent members plus Germany).

One year after the agreement was announced, the Republican-controlled House voted 246 to 179 for a new set of sanctions against Iran, and 246 to 181 for a measure to block Iran's access to the US financial system, including the use of the dollar.
The House passed a bill Wednesday barring the US from purchasing "heavy water," a non-radioactive byproduct of making nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, from Iran. However, the bills are purely symbolic since President Obama will veto any bill which sabotages the agreement.
