The act was passed to the Senate for consideration. The Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ed Royce, said that by passing the legislation, the US Congress wanted to send a strong message of support to a critical partner in the Middle East. He said Jordan has taken the lead in the fight against the Islamic State and suffers from the Syrian refugee crisis, thus support to Jordan was significant as the Middle East country was facing a number of security challenges.
