US imposes additional tariffs on Chinese products
(VOVWORLD) - The US announced on Thursday another round of tariffs on wooden cabinets and vanity sets imported from China, worth about 4.4 billion USD.
The Commerce Department said additional tariffs will be imposed because those products are being dumped on the American market at less than fair value. Chinese exporters will face tariffs of up to 251.6% to level the playing field.
The latest announcement is one in series of cases the Commerce Department has pursued against many product lines, usually at the request of American companies claiming to be hurt by imports from China or other trading partners. But it is separate from the broader trade dispute in which President Donald Trump plans to impose tough taxes on nearly all imports from China.
