White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said that during separate meetings with President Barack Obama and US Congressmen and other officials on Monday, Modi discussed ways to enhance the US-India strategic partnership, which Obama once predicted would be “one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century.” The leaders will discuss ways to boost economic growth and security co-operation and to increase co-ordination on achieving long-term benefits for both countries and the world. Earnest said Obama and Modi will also discuss regional issues on Tuesday, including the latest developments in Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq. Modi’s spokesperson said the Prime Minister’s top priority on his trip is to strengthen bi-lateral economic, trade, and investment ties.
