(VOVworld) – The US Intelligence service is conducting an investigation into Islamic State (IS) gunmen’s claim to have killed a US journalist.

Caitlin Hayden, a spokesperson for the White House and the US National Security Agency (NSA), said that US intelligence agencies were trying to examine the credibility of a video recording the killing as soon as possible. Hayden insisted that if the video was real, the killing of an innocent American journalist would be gruesome.
IS uploaded a 5-minute video entitled “A Message to America”, in which American journalist James Foley was executed in the desert. The IS said that the execution was in retaliation for US air-strikes in northern Iraq. It also said that the extremist group was preparing attacks against Americans.
