US, Iran likely to reach consensus on saving nuclear deal

(VOVWORLD) - A senior official of the US Department of State said Thursday that although many disagreements remain, Washington and Tehran will likely reach a consensus on how to return to the 2015 nuclear deal in the next few weeks.

Speaking online, the official said that the past three indirect rounds of negotiations between the US and Iran in Vienna didn’t produce any specific solutions, but helped find a number of options for how to resume the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Yet there remains much to be done for parties involved in regards to sanctions, the order and time needed to realize it.

Iran's senior negotiator Abbas Araqchi said last week that despite differences between the two sides, the US and Iran have reached a common stance on a number of issues.

The US delegation plans to return to Vienna this week for the fourth round of indirect negotiations with Iran.
