(VOVworld) – The US State Department has warned American travelers to Europe to be on the alert for potential terror attacks this summer which may target the EURO 2016 fotball championship and related events across France. State Department spokesman John Kirby said targets could include major sporting events and tourist sites, as well as restaurants, commercial centers, and transportation. He added that the large number of tourists visiting Europe in the summer months would present greater targets for terrorists planning attacks on large crowds. The celebration of the Roman Catholic Church's World Day in late July expects to welcome 2.5 million people.

Spokesman Kirby said the travel alert, which will expire on 31 August, doesn’t suggest American travelers cancel their trips to Europe but seeks to make them aware of the risks involved.
