On the sidelines of the just concluded 8th East Asia Summit (EAS) in Brunei, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that a Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) is necessary for countries involved in East Sea territorial disputes to clarify their claims in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his hope that parties involved in East Sea disputes will soon complete the legally binding COC and stressed that East Sea disputes need to be resolved by law, not by force.
