The US sailors also played futsal with the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and enjoyed Vietnamese cuisine. Lam Quang Minh, Director of the Da Nang Department of External Affairs said the visit will boost the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US.
“Local people eagerly welcomed the US sailors who come in peace time for people-to-people exchange. They helped us build clinics and houses, provided free health check-ups and trained doctors, contributing to a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and win-win relationship between Vietnam and the US,” Mr Minh said.
The aircraft carrier, accompanied by missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer, docked at Da Nang’s Tien Sa port on Monday.
