(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama acknowledged the Central Intelligence Agency’s use of torture, asking the agency to take responsibility and discontinue such actions.

US President acknowledges CIA torture

During a White House news conference Friday, Obama said the CIA tortured a number of people following the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, which runs counter to traditional American moral values. Following the September 11 attacks, the CIA detained tens of Al Qaeda suspects and applied interrogation tactics that included stripping them naked, depriving them of sleep, and evoking a feeling of drowning.
