(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday beginning his first 3-day official visit to Malaysia.

Obama is the first US president to visit Malaysia since President Lyndon Johnson in 1966. President Obama is expected to hold talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on bilateral trade, regional issues and negotiation process of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP). According to officials, the visit will help reinforce vigorous economic cooperation between Malaysia and the US.

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said the US remained one of Malaysia’s biggest trading partners and leading source of foreign direct investment in the country. Malaysia is the third stopover of President Obama’s trip to four Asian countries including Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines.
