(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama has said 2014 is a year of action and called on the Congress to cooperate to foster the stagnated 2013 program on domestic policies. In his weekly radio address on Saturday, President Obama said the first step is for Congress to extend unemployment insurance for those without work.

The Act on unemployment insurance, which expired at the end of last month, has directly hit 1.3 million people while affecting the lives of millions of other people. He also announced that he would discuss with business groups’ leaders next week on job generation. The president is also expected to meet with universities’ headmasters to discuss major steps to help US laborers improve their necessary skills to meet new jobs’ demands. In a federal message scheduled to be announced by the end of this month, President Obama will call on US citizens to boost economic development to create opportunities for every person. Also on radio broadcast, Republican Senator Thad Cochran has once again called for the removal of the healthcare Act, popularly known as Obamacare, or a stop in providing state budget for the implementation of this Act.
