Biden affirmed his priorities of protecting the American people's security, prosperity, health, and way of life, and preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific.
He underscored his fundamental concerns about Beijing's coercive and unfair economic practices and issues related to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang.
According to the White House, Biden is committed to pursuing practical, results-oriented engagement to advance the interests of the American people and its allies.
The call came hours after Biden announced the creation of a Pentagon task force to help craft a comprehensive strategy for dealing with China.
Biden emphasized that the US needs to meet increasing challenges from China to maintain peace and protect its interests in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
