(VOVworld) - The US has granted duty-free status to travel goods made in Cambodia, according to the US embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Under the new changes to the US Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), travel goods produced in Cambodia such as luggage, backpacks, handbags, and wallets will be duty free when exported to the US. Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak said this will open a whole new market for Cambodian exporters and generate thousands of jobs.

He called on Cambodian manufacturers to take advantage of this new opportunity， which could help to diversify Cambodia's economic base， spur economic growth， alleviate poverty, and promote national textile industry.
