Cementing Vietnamese-Cambodian diplomatic ties

(VOVworld) – Cambodia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, is on an official visit to Vietnam from June 21-23 at the invitation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. At a meeting on Wednesday, the two Ministers agreed to work closely in preparing high-level visits by their leaders in the future.

To mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2017, both countries will organize meaningful activities to deepen their traditional relations. The leaders pledged to enhance collaboration at regional and international forums.
Together with other ASEAN countries, Vietnam and Cambodia will enhance ASEAN’s unity, consensus, and central role, contributing to international peace, security, stability, and cooperation.
Both sides agreed to resolve the East Sea issues by peaceful means, not use or threaten to use force, and abide by international law. Vietnam and Cambodia will also cooperate with members of the Mekong River Commission to ensure sustainable management and use of the Mekong River and promote the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.
