(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama received visiting Saudi Arabian Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Friday to discuss situation in the Middle East.

During the meeting, the two talked about steps to support Iraqis including increased Gulf support to fund urgent humanitarian and stabilization needs, and in the fight against the Islamic State. Mr. Obama appreciated Saudi Arabia’s contributions to the campaign against IS.
He welcomed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a political settlement of the Yemen conflict. On Syria situation, they reaffirmed the importance of a political transition away from President Bashar al-Assad.
