(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry said in an interview on Chile’s National Television on Tuesday that he favors lifting the trade embargo on Cuba because the island is making progress in the right direction. He said the embargo should be lifted in the Cuban people’s interests, adding that the US will continue to normalize its relations with Cuba step by step.
Cuba’s President Raul Castro said that Cuba and the US could totally normalise their relations once the US lifts its embargo on Cuba and hands over the control of the Guantanamo naval base. He stressed that Cuba should be compensated for damage caused by the US embargo during the past decades.
