US Senators pledge to settle disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means
(VOVworld)- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has praised a visit by US Senators to Vietnam saying that it created opportunities for the two countries to strengthen bilateral ties.
At a reception for US Senator John McCain in Hanoi on Wednesday, Mr. Hung expressed his hope that the US Congress would support and soon adopt the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement to bolster bilateral economic, security and defense cooperation. Hung said Vietnam always proactively integrated and was ready to be a friend and reliable partner to other countries. Vietnam applauded US Congress’ support for Vietnam’s struggle to defend national sovereignty and protest against external intervention into national and territorial sovereignty. He said that he hoped the US would raise its voice to contribute to peace in the region and the world and prevent maritime security threats and conflicts in the East Sea and the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. John Mc Cain said he hoped Vietnam and the US as well as other involved parties would soon reach a consensus on the TPP agreement to boost bilateral ties and bring practical benefits for both countries. Mister John McCain and other Senators expressed their concerns over the situation in the East Sea and pledged to solve disputes through peaceful means. They called on all parties involved to respect international law.
