(VOVworld)-The US and South Korea will set up a joint military division next year. The division will operate as a unit of commanding officers in peacetime and then draw troops from both nations should war break out. 

The US maintains 28,500 troops in South Korea. South Korea, which now has 640,000 troops, relinquished its military command to the US during the conflict that ended in a truce rather than with a peace treaty.
