(VOVWORLD) - At a trilateral meeting in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Tuesday, senior officials from the United States, South Korea, and Japan promised to maintain close coordination regarding North Korea's plans to launch a military reconnaissance satellite using ballistic missile technology in violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Sung Kim, US Special Representative for North Korea, Kim Gunn, South Korea's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, and Namazu Hiroyuki, Director-General of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau.
The three officials shared assessments of recent developments on the Korean Peninsula and North Korea's engagement with Russia.
They highlighted the threat that the North's ballistic missile programs pose to global peace and prosperity.
