(VOVWORLD) - US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Tuesday that the US will continue confronting China over its territorial claims in the East Sea, where Beijing has militarized the islands.

The statement came after Beijing condemned the US Navy for its activities in the region last weekend.
Two US warships conducting a “Freedom of navigation” operation cruised near an island in the East Sea on Sunday.
