US Treasury says no manipulator label on Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - The US Treasury on Friday released its report “Macroeconomic and Foreign Exchange Policies of Major Trading Partners of the US”, which concluded that Vietnam met all three criteria under the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 (the 2015 Act) during the period under review. The Department refrained from branding Vietnam as manipulator. The report was published on the website of the US Treasury Department.

In a similar report released in April, the US Treasury Department removed Vietnam from the list of currency manipulator saying there is insufficient evidence to make a finding that Vietnam manipulates its exchange rate for purposes of preventing effective balance of payments adjustments or gaining unfair competitive advantage in international trade under the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 (the 1988 Act).
