US uses Tomahawk cruise missile in Syria attack
(VOVWORLD) - The US has used Tomahawk cruise missiles to strike targets in Syria, an US official said on Saturday (Vietnam time). Witnesses said Barzeh district in Damascus, where scientific research institutions are based, has been pounded.

US President Donald Trump said he had ordered US armed forces to launch “precision strikes” targeting President Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons capabilities, calling the suspected poison gas attack in Douma an action of escalation.
British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Saturday the UK and France had joined in the attack and there was no alternative to military action. She cited the reason as to degrade Syria’s chemical weapons capability.
Syrian TV said its military had used air defense weapons to respond to US attack, which it called a “flagrant violation of international law.”
