During the two-day summit on May 12 and 13, ASEAN leaders will have in-person meetings with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
"The Special Summit will demonstrate the United States' enduring commitment to ASEAN, recognising its central role in delivering sustainable solutions to the region's most pressing challenges, and commemorate 45 years of US-ASEAN relations," the statement by White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
High on the agenda will be cooperation for COVID-19 recovery, climate change, health security, maritime cooperation, education, economic growth, people-to-people ties, and human resource development.
The meeting will also discuss ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership for the shared benefits of ASEAN countries and the US.
