US-China 2-phase trade deal negotiations begin

(VOVWORLD) - US Vice President Mike Pence said on Wednesday that discussions had already begun on a “Phase 2” US-China trade deal, hours after Washington and Beijing signed an initial trade pact that defused some tensions but left some major issues unresolved.

Pence said in an interview with Fox Business Network on Wednesday they’ve already begun discussions on a Phase 2 deal, but gave no further details.

The US and China signed the Phase 1 deal with China committing to buy an additional 200 billion USD of American goods and services by 2021. In return Washington will not impose tariff on 160 billion USD of Chinese goods in the next 2 years.
