(VOVworld)- On Tuesday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Moros concluded his 2-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang. At a meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Monday, Venezuelan President and President of Venezuela’s United Socialist Party Nicolas Maduro Moros said Venezuela is keen on boosting friendship and all-round ties with Vietnam.

The Venezuelan leader suggested that both sides increase exchanges of delegations at all levels, strengthening relations between the two parties, and forging more effective economic and trade cooperation, especially in areas of each other’s potential and strength. He also underlined the need to continue mutual support at regional and international forums, including the United Nations. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always treasures ties with traditional friends, including Venezuela. He urged the two countries to work more closely for a stronger relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples. Trong said he hoped the bilateral friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries will further develop for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

During the visit, President Nicolas Maduro Moros held talks with President Truong Tan Sang, and paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. During talks, the two Presidents agreed to further promote established cooperation mechanisms and create favorable conditions for their enterprises to enhance cooperation in energy, oil and gas, agriculture, and fisheries.

The two sides agreed to increase bilateral trade exchanges and boost bilateral cooperation in security, national defense and justice. President Truong Tan Sang said Vietnam would closely cooperate with Venezuela and other countries to ensure the success of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit to be held in Venezuela in 2016. Both leaders agreed that any territorial and sovereignty dispute needs to be addressed by peaceful means in line with international law including the UN Charter and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

At a meeting with the Venezuelan President, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said she believed that the visit would deepen the friendship between the two legislatures and pave the way for further bilateral cooperation. President Nicolas Maduro Moros urged the Friendship Parliamentarian Groups of the two countries to enhance ties.

During his visit to Vietnam, the Venezuelan President laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument, visited the President Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, and met with Vietnamese enterprises. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
