(VOVworld)- The Vietnam Fatherland Front wrapped up its 8^th National Congress in Hanoi on Saturday. At the closing session, the Congress announced the list of the Central Committee, the Presidium, the Standing Committee and the list of VFF leaders of the 8^th tenure. Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan was re-elected the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee. The Presidium comprises of 62 members. In his closing speech, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Central Committee said with the spirit of Solidarity- Democracy-Innovation, the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front completed its set target. Mr. Nhan said: "The Presidium hopes that each participant at the Congress, Fatherland Front organizations at various levels and Front member organizations will help disseminate and realize the Congress's Resolution and mobilized people of all social classes to respond to the organization's Action Programs thus promoting the strength of national unity in national construction and defense".

The Congress adopted the Political Report and the revised Regulations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The delegates discussed measures to effectively implement the VFF’s Action Program in the 2014-2019 period. On Friday, the delegates approved the organization’s Charter and personnel plan for the eighth tenure (2014-2019). Under the plan, the VFF Central Committee comprises 383 members representing all classes of people, 54 ethnic groups, religions and overseas Vietnamese. 50.9 percent of the total members are non-Party members, up 0.2 percent against the previous tenure, 26.4% are ethnic minority people, 16.1% are religious dignitaries, and 21% are female members.

Nguyen Tai Phuong, a Vietnamese American, comments:“The increase of non-Party members’ participating in the VFF Central Committee showed a positive sign because these delegates will contribute objective opinions. As non-Party members, we will assist the Front to improve its function of social criticism thus contributing to national policies”.

Quan Trong Ninh is a delegate from Bac Lieu province: “The figure of more than 50% of non-Party members participating in the VFF’s Central Committee shows the democracy and national strength at the Congress. The Vietnam Fatherland Front has over the past time effectively promoted the national unity and equality between ethnic groups. The success of this Congress will help the Vietnam Fatherland Front further promote the national unity”.
