(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner on the sidelines of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women of the UN Economic and Social Council in New York on Monday.

Vice President Xuan called on UN Development Program (UNDP) to continue giving financial assistance to Vietnam and helping Vietnam implement its policies. She asked for UNDP's support in socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta, mobilize adequate resources from partners to ensure that development, and support Mekong basin countries in managing Mekong River water.
Steiner said Vietnam and the UNDP share common priorities regarding green and digital transformation, and said the UNDP stands ready to support Vietnam in fulfilling its commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and in implementing the Vietnam Just Energy Transition Partnership, accelerating de-carbonization and ensuring affordable access to clean energy. It will act as a bridge between Vietnam and international donors, and support Vietnam in meeting its objectives, he said.
The two sides agreed to maintain a close collaboration to enable Vietnam to make significant contributions to UNDP's global sustainable development efforts.
