Vietnam aims at sustainable tourism development
(VOVworld)- A seminar on improving tourist accommodation in Vietnam was held in Can Tho city on Wednesday as part of the Mekong Delta’s Green Tourism Week 2015. Last year, Vietnam received 8 million foreign and 38 million domestic tourists. But the rapid development of accommodation has not matched with sustainable tourism development trends. Participants discussed ways to promote green tourism development and ensure the sustainable growth of tourist accommodation. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of the Vietnam Tourism Administration said: “The seminar discussed many useful lessons for businesses. It included the accumulated experiences of the tourist sector’s efforts in implementing the Vietnam Tourism Development Orientation until 2020 and Vision towards 2030. It’s important to link sustainable tourism development with the protection of the environment and natural resources while optimizing tourist resources”.
