The event is part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.
Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia, said the new air route will create great opportunities between the two destinations and represents a whole new inbound visitor market for Western Australia’s industry, tourism, and hospitality sectors.
“Inbound” guests are foreigners who come to Vietnam for short travel and stay, or Vietnamese guests who reside abroad and return home to visit their homeland. This will help boost the economy and create more jobs for the region.
Rita Saffioti, Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister, said Vietnam is becoming an emerging tourism market for Western Australia, with 10,000 visitors travelling into Western Australia for the year up until March 2023.
The new flights will further bolster that with a further 43,000 people able to come in each year, said Rita.
