Vietnam Airlines, Youth Union jointly plant 11,000 trees in Quang Ninh
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam Airlines and the Youth Union Central Committee on Sunday launched a tree planting campaign, where they planted 11,000 casuarinas on an area of 5 ha in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, to protect the coast from wave erosion.

The move was in response to the Tree Planting Festival initiated by President Ho Chi Minh. It was part of the Youth Union’s Youth Month major activities and Vietnam Airlines’ community support programs. At the launch ceremony, Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Organization Commission, and Dang Ngoc Hoa, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, together with more than 2,000 young people jointly planted trees and called for people’s awareness on environmental protection, creating green, clean, and friendly tourism in Quang Ninh.

Mr. Hoa said Vietnam Airlines as a national flag carrier continues to work with Quang Ninh in promoting culture, tourism, trade, and community support. He added that Vietnam Airlines wants to join efforts to protect the environment and create a green, clean, and beautiful living space for local people and tourists, boosting sustainable economic and tourist development in Vietnam’s famous attractions.

In 2017, Vietnam Airlines and Quang Ninh province jointly assisted the poor and planted 50,000 trees in Quang Ninh’s major coal fields. Early this year, the national flag carrier signed a cooperative strategic deal to promote Quang Ninh tourism and expand flight routes from and to Van Don airport.
