(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam and its capital city Hanoi continued to be named among the top favorite countries and cities for tourists at the recently announced the 2023 Telegraph Travel Awards, held by the UK newspaper the Telegraph.

The list is based on the votes from 30,000 readers for destinations, airlines, yachts and travel agencies.
Since 2014, Vietnam has nine times been in the top 20 favorite countries of the Telegraph Travel Awards. In 2023, Vietnam is ranked in 18th place among the top 20. Among the top 10 favorite countries in Asia and the Middle East in 2023, Vietnam ranks third behind Japan and Sri Lanka.
This year, Cape Town, South Africa, ranked No. 1 among the top 10 cities in the world as voted by Telegraph readers. Hanoi ranked 27th, among the top cities that have improved significantly, up 27 places from their 54th position in 2019.
In the top 10 cities outside Europe and the Americas, or “the best in the rest of the world,” three Southeast Asian representatives were included, including Hanoi in 8th place.
