(VOVworld) - Vietnam and the US will work closely to fight illegal wildlife trading, said Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell Tuesday during a working visit to Vietnam from June 29 to July 1.
Jewell called for enhanced law enforcement and international cooperation in dealing with the increased smuggling of endangered species, including elephants, rhinos, sea turtles, tigers, and pangolins.
She hailed the contributions Vietnam and the US have made to the effort, reflected by their respective legal frameworks and enforcement of wildlife laws, including the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s promulgation of a Decree on wild animal smuggling. Vietnamese officials expressed their strong support for measures to reduce wild animal smuggling.
