Vietnam, ASEAN countries to boost friendship and multifaceted cooperation
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has expressed his hope that ambassadors of ASEAN countries to Vietnam will exert their efforts for closer friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. At a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Phuc urged ASEAN countries to build a united bloc to deal with the changing regional strategic environment and growing strategic competition between world powers. He said Vietnam pledged close coordination with ASEAN countries, along with its active contributions, to strengthen ASEAN solidarity and its key role at ASEAN-led forums focusing on regional issues and relations with foreign partners.

Prime Minister Phuc called on ASEAN countries to stay united and firm in their stance on East Sea issues. He added that parties involved should settle disputes peacefully with respect for international laws, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and quickly adopt the Code of Conduct in the East Sea to maintain regional peace, stability, security, safety, and cooperation.
