Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva, said at the plenary session that while dealing with terrorism, migration, and climate change, countries should engage in regular dialogues and abide by international humanitarian law as well as and the Geneva Convention.
Mr. Thanh said international conferences should encourage voluntary consensus and non-political attitudes in implementing international humanitarian law rather than adjusting or setting new regulations. Vietnam supports measures to improve awareness and combat sexual and gender violations in line with the UN Security Council’s resolution on women, peace, and security.
