Vietnam attends ASEAN-EU security workshop

(VOVworld) – Vietnam is attending the ASEAN-EU security workshop in Brussels. The Brussels workshop, from March 11-14, is organized by the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Security and Defense College, and the European Union Military Staff.

Colonel Vu Van Khanh of the Institute for Defense Strategy under the Ministry of Defense delivered a speech at the event on Vietnam’s view of the challenges facing the region and the world. Regarding the East Sea, Mr. Khanh said Vietnam wishes to solve any conflict in the East Sea through peaceful negotiations in compliance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea. 
In his speech, Mr. Khanh said Vietnam is concerned by the uncertainties in several Southeast Asian countries, such as the religious and ethnic conflicts in Myanmar, Thailand, and the Philippines and the internal instability in Thailand and Cambodia.
