Vietnam attracts 13.9 billion USD of FDI in 5 months

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment said Vietnam received 1.55 billion USD of Foreign Direct Investment in May, bringing the total FDI in 5 months to 13.9 billion USD. It dropped 17% compared to the same period last year, but was higher than the previous years.

Processing and manufacturing took the lead in attracting FDI. It’s followed by electric, gas, water, and ventilation distribution, retail and wholesale, automobile and motorbike repair, and real estate.

96 countries and territories have invested in Vietnam with top countries including Singapore, Thailand, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Bac Lieu ranked first in attracting FDI with 4 billion USD for a liquefied natural gas-fired (LNG) power plant. Other provinces included Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Binh Duong, and Tay Ninh.
