Vietnam attracts over 11 billion USD of FDI in first half of 2016

(VOVworld) – Vietnam attracted over 11 billion USD worth of FDI in the first half of this year. According to the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the figure is up 105 percent compared the same period last year.

An estimated 7.25 billion USD was disbursed. Manufacturing and processing industries attracted 890 newly registered projects with additional capital of 8.06 billion USD.

The Republic of Korea remained the leading investor, with approximately 4 billion USD. Following the lead are Japan and Singapore.

The northern coastal city of Hai Phong was the most attractive destination for foreign investors. The city attracted more than 1.7 billion USD in FDI. Hanoi was the runner-up. The southern Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces took the third and fourth place.
