Vietnam, Australia pledge further cooperation in fighting Covid-19

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne have agreed to share information and experience in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, such as research and production of vaccines and the purchase of medical materials and equipment.

During a phone call on Thursday, they agreed to organize an annual ministerial meeting in the third quarter of this year in Australia or via a video conference.They will discuss measures to enhance the bilateral Strategic Partnership, focusing on medical and food safety cooperation, joint activities to minimize epidemic’s impacts on the socio-economy, and trade and tourism recovery when the epidemic is contained.     

Both leaders pledged to support each other at multilateral forums, particularly at the UN and ASEAN, on regional and global issues of mutual concerns, including peace, stability, and security in the East Sea with respect to international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
