Vietnam becomes Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum Chair
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam took over the chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) for the 2017-2018 tenure from the Republic of Fiji at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said Vietnam is proud to assume the APPF chairmanship and host the 26th annual meeting of APPF in 2018, adding that the Vietnamese legislature highly values the Forum’s activities and agenda. She affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to making the 26th APPF a success: “Following the success of the Vietnam National Assembly in recent multilateral parliamentary diplomatic activities, such as the 132nd IPU General Assembly, and the General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the Vietnam National Assembly vows to make the 26th APPF a success. We hope to receive support from the IPU President and Secretary General as well as the parliaments of other countries”.
