Vietnam calls for faster transition in South Sudan
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is calling on the government and other parties in South Sudan to speed up the transitional period and take effective steps to reduce violence.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Vietnam's Permanent Representative to the UN, said Wednesday at an online meeting of the UN Security Council on South Sudan and the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Ambassador Quy acknowledged positive developments in South Sudan despite the COVID-19 pandemic, flood, and food insecurity. He praised the role of UNMISS, South Sudan’s neighbors, and regional organizations in promoting peace and development in South Sudan. He said Vietnam will continue to contribute to UNMISS’s operation, promote women’s participation in the Mission, and call for more support for women in the Mission.
