Vietnam calls for further support for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims
(VOVWORLD) - Each year Vietnam spends dozens of millions of USD to help Agent Orange/Dioxin victims, said Nguyen Van Rinh, President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA).
At a program to mark the Day for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Hanoi on Friday night, Mr. Rinh said Vietnam has made strenuous effort to overcome the consequences of Agent Orange/Dioxin sprayed by the US Army during the war in Vietnam. He said: “On this occasion, I call on the US government and chemical companies to seriously take responsibility and take concrete actions in addressing the consequences of the chemical warfare in Vietnam. I call on people of all social strata to support our program by sending a SMS texting “dacam” to 1409.”
4.8 million Vietnamese people were exposed to Agent Orange/Dioxin and more than 3 million people were victims of the chemical.
