(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Defense Ministry wants to cooperate with Canada in English language training, flight safety, search and rescue experience, and defense. Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh made the statement at a Thursday reception in Hanoi for the Canadian Defense Ministry Department for International Security Policy, led by Rear Admiral Gilles Couturier. Vinh said he hopes that the visit will contribute to promoting cooperative ties in all fields, especially in defense. Couturier said Canada recently issued a statement in support of ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea issue, condemning China’s illegal deployment of the Haiyang-981 drilling rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. The Rear Admiral said Canada fully supports Vietnam’s position of resolving disputes through peaceful solutions in accordance with international law.
