(VOVWORLD) - Activities have been held nationwide to mark Vietnam’s August Revolution Day (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Quang Tri authorities burned incense and laid floral wreaths at the memorial of the Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery, Truong Son Cemetery, and the graves of more than 20,000 martyr heroes.
On this occasion, Binh Duong province organized a gathering to review the glorious history of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam 72 years ago.
The same day, in Phnom Penh, the General Association of Vietnamese-Cambodians in Cambodia held a grand ceremony at which the Association’s President Chau Van Chi said the Vietnamese community there believes in the Vietnamese Party and government’s leadership to develop the country.
“In the spirit of the August Revolution and National Day, the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, promise to preserve the Vietnamese traditional culture while respecting Cambodian law, and Khmer customs, and unite with each other to contribute to the construction and development of a peaceful and prosperous Cambodian nation,” said Mr. Chi.
A fashion show featuring the traditional Vietnamese dress was held this week in the Republic of Korea. This was part of an ongoing art exhibition and performance called “Salt of Forest” at the head office of the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnamese National Day and 25 years of Vietnamese – Korean diplomatic ties.
The Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa held a grand ceremony at which Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Van Dung said the Vietnamese Party and Government cherish the comprehensive partnership with South Africa, and hope the two countries will continue cooperation in economy, trade, education, security, defence, and environmental protection.
Edward Xolisa Makaya, Chief Director for Africa at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, said he hopes Vietnam will continue to share experience in agricultural development and poverty reduction and that the two countries will bolster coordination at regional and other multilateral forums.
