(VOVWORLD) - Ship CSB 8004, with a working delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) on board, docked at Shinko port in Kobe city of Japan on Monday, marking the start of a visit and exchange program with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG).

Meeting the Vietnamese delegation, Commander Hattori of the JCG’s Region 5, hailed ship CSB 8004 visit to Japan as a meaningful event as it coincided with the the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.
He said the visit will strengthen ties between the two forces, reinforce the Vietnam-Japan friendship, and help realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
Colonel Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard Region 1 said he hoped the visit will tighten the the two forces' relations and that they will have more opportunities to exchange experience and strengthen co-ordination to deal with both traditional and non-traditional security challenges at sea.
The Vietnam Coast Guard ship departed for Japan on September 24 and travelled nearly 2,300 nautical miles.
