Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung made the statement at a dialogue session in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday to discuss Vietnam’s national report under the third-cycle UPR of the UN Human Rights Council.
The report was prepared with the involvement of Party and State agencies and domestic and international NGOs. The session drew 122 countries, who recognised Vietnam’s policies, efforts and achievements in human rights and made a number of recommendations, encouraging Vietnam to continue its contributions to international efforts to promote and protect human rights.
The UPR working group is scheduled to meet again on Friday to consider the approval of Vietnam’s report which will be submitted to the UN Human Rights Council for official adoption in June.
