Vietnam concerned about nuclear safety and security in Ukraine
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is deeply concerned and shares other countries concerns about nuclear safety and security in Ukraine and urging relevant parties to comply with international law as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency’s standards and guidelines on nuclear safety, security, and inspection to avoid unfortunate incidents, said the resident representative of Vietnam to the IAEA.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien made the statement at a just concluded emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors under the request of its members Poland and Canada in view of the situation in Ukraine and the related implications for nuclear safety and radiological protection.
Kien, who is a member of the Board of Governors, affirmed that the IAEA is an independent international organization specialized in the development and application of nuclear technology so all its activities and decisions should be reviewed and approved on the basis of its functions and missions.
