(VOVWORLD) - Two more elderly patients have died of COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday evening.

The first female patient, 64 living in Bac Giang province, suffered from cerebrovascular accident and polyarthritis.
She tested positive on May 26 and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. She turned critical on June 12, showing serious shortness of breath and starting to rely on mechanical ventilation.
The other female patient, 85 living in Ho Chi Minh City, had a history of high blood pressure, and diabetes (type II). She lived with her son, who was a COVID-19 patient.
The patient was diagnosed with severe pneumonia caused by COVID-19 and was admitted to hospital on June 7. The patient was actively treated with endotracheal ventilation, dialysis, antibiotics, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, vasopressor, and blood transfusion, but did not respond well.
These are the third and fourth COVID-19 deaths Vietnam has recorded during the past 24 hours. They have raised the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Vietnam to 80.
Vietnam has so far seen 1,790 imported cases and 14,717 others of community transmission.
