Vietnam considers regulations to promote AI ethics

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said Vietnam is developing regulations to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) is developed in an ethical and responsible way based on the experience of many countries and UNESCO principles.

At a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday on responsible AI development, Duy said AI ethics affects social affairs, laws, politics, and commercial competition.

In Vietnam, ensuring ethical AI will require the cooperation of engineers, scientists, and agencies like the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Public Security.

Personal data security, copyrights, intellectual property rights, labor productivity, the environment, and social security all need to be protected, he said.

At the conference, experts said Vietnam is monitoring regulations on responsible AI development in other countries to find an appropriate legal framework for domestic practices, and developing a Law on the Digital Technology Industry, which will cover digital product ethics, including AI.
