On Tuesday, Mr. Gonzalez attended the 4th political consultation at the deputy foreign minister level in Hanoi. Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc said Vietnam attaches great importance to its special partnership with Cuba, and is ready to share with Cuba the experience gained from its renewal process in the past 3 decades. Mr. Ngoc proposed initiatives for the consultation: “We are reviewing the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba and discussing measures to boost bilateral cooperation, particularly between the two foreign ministries. We are also exchanging views on global issues.”
Mr. Gonzalez lauded Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and extensive international integration to contribute to peace and stability in the region. He stressed the need to regularly maintain and improve the efficiency of political consultation between the two foreign ministries.
The two sides agreed to support each other within international organizations and multilateral forums within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation to elevate the status of Vietnam and Cuba globally.
